US Water Services Inc has acquired Tonka Water, a Plymouth, Minnesota-based supplier of municipal and industrial water treatment systems.
Founded in 1956, Tonka Water has more than 2300 system installations in 49 states and four Canadian provinces. The company’s product range includes aerators, strippers/degasifiers, clarification systems, filtration systems, ion exchange, membrane systems and packaged treatment systems.
Tonka Water expands US Water’s integrated water treatment equipment offerings while adding new customers in the municipal and industrial sectors.
US Water, a subsidiary of energy company Allete Inc, provides integrated water solutions for industry. Based in St Michael, Minnesota, US Water serves more than 4800 industrial customers.
“This strategic acquisition, like the earlier additions of Water & Energy Systems Technologies and A and W Technologies, expands US Water’s geographic and customer markets, its equipment portfolio and its field service offerings,” said Allete chairman, president and CEO Alan Hodnik. “Allete continues to execute its strategy of supporting US Water’s growth both organically and through tuck-in acquisitions as the company expands in the US and Canada. Societal expectations, regulation and resource scarcity increasingly require sustainable solutions, and Allete is well-positioned in the emerging energy-water nexus.”
“The addition of Tonka Water to the US Water family expands our integrated capabilities in the industrial market and broadens our overall equipment offerings into the municipal market,” said LaMarr Barnes, CEO of US Water. “Their experienced employees will strengthen our engineering capabilities, and allow us to further leverage our chemical and service offerings to provide our customers more options. We are very excited to welcome Tonka Water to the US Water family.”
Tom Davis, Tonka Water’s president said: “I am confident that joining US Water will strengthen our position in industrial water treatment and the municipal market, further solidifying our customized and innovative solutions.”
