BHS-Sonthofen has bought German mixing and drying technology company AVA GmbH & Co KG.
The AVA product range includes horizontal and vertical mixers and dryers. In addition to mixing and drying, the AVA solutions also cover processes including granulation, sterilization and reaction. AVA products are used in a broad range of applications and across many industries including chemical, pharmaceutical, power plant technology, environmental technology, metallurgy, building materials, food & feed and cellulose.
Herrsching-headquartered AVA was founded by Helmut Huep in 1991 and managed by him and his wife Dagmar Huep. The owners have now decided to sell the family business as they wish to retire.
“We have known BHS-Sonthofen for a long time and cooperated in joint projects on many occasions,” said Helmut and Dagmar Huep. “Therefore, BHS was our number one choice when we decided to sell our company. With them, we can rest assured that our company, employees and customers will be in good hands.”

The Herrsching site will be retained, together with all AVA employees. Both companies will continue to operate in the marketplace under their own names.
The acquisition strengthens BHS-Sonthofen’s position in mixing technology while AVA’s drying technology supplements the company’s competence in solid-liquid separation.
AVA also significantly enhances BHS-Sonthofen’s service portfolio and line capabilities, allowing the company to cover additional upstream and downstream process steps. This will also increase the number of system solutions BHS-Sonthofen can offer its customers.
BHS-Sonthofen is an owner-operated group of machinery and plant engineering companies based in Sonthofen, Germany. The company concentrates primarily on mixing, crushing, recycling and filtration. BHS-Sonthofen has a global presence with more than 350 employees and a number of subsidiaries.
